Why have a community page?
We have included this page because the Parkway project is especially dedicated to the communities of the Clutha River corridor. The giant Clutha runs 338kms through the heartland of Otago, touching many towns and communities on its spectacular journey from the Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean.
Wanaka, Alberttown, Hawea, Luggate, Lowburn, Cromwell, Clyde, Earnscleugh, Alexandra, Roxburgh, Ettrick, Miller's Flat, Beaumont, Tuapeka (where the punt is!), Clydevale, Balclutha and Kaitangata. And there are still more communities close to or near the Clutha River that know it well. There are community groups who have already done a great deal to improve the river corridor (the restoration of the foot-bridge at Horseshoe Bend is a good example). We know there are many people who know the river well and who work hard for their communities to improve the river environment. We want to know all about you! We want to tell your story here. This is your page.
Please contact us and send us your news stories and photos!
This page is also for school groups doing projects on the Clutha. If you send us your project material; stories, poems, drawings etc., we may create a page especially for your school and include your work on it.
And if you have any ideas or suggestions for this community page, please contact us. We'd be very pleased to hear from you ...
